Ethical foodie gifts, fresh for Christmas.
The Amnesty International shop has brought together a very special collection of ethical food gifts this Christams. There is something to suit all tastes, and not only does everything taste great, but you can feel good knowing your purchase supports some amazing ethical producers.
For £25 you can pay for an Olive tree to be planted in Palestine, by The Trees for Life Program of the Palestine Fair Trade Association. And as a thank you for this contribution, receive a certificate and a 500ml bottle of Zaytoun Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This best-selling olive oil has been made from hand-picked and rain-fed olives, and boasts a warm, peppery taste, perfect for drizzling over salads.
A host of other fairtrade Palestinian goods are on offer, including
hampers,
dates,
olive oils,
nuts and
soaps.
Back for a second year, is the
Amnesty global farmers market in partnership with gebana. Included in the market is fresh
oranges,
lemons,
clementines,
dried fruit and nuts, and
coffee. gebana sell in large packages that come directly from the country of origin. This is more efficient, reducing not only waste but also food miles. Some items are available now for purchase, and others need to be ordered in advance. This means, the fruit will be harvested when ripe, and shipped straight to you for a pre- Christmas delivery.
For those with a sweet tooth, there are fairtrade
